According to the provisions of Government Ordinance no. 15/2002 and of the methodological regulations for the application thereof given by the Order of the Minister of Public Works, Transports and Dwellings 1433/2002 as of January 1st 2005 for all the types of cars homologated in Romania, the owners thereof will pay a fee for the use of road infrastructures.

The type approval is necessary in case of the import/trading/manufacturing of more than 10 new road vehicles of the same type, irrespective of the period, by the same legal entity. The type approval can be granted only to the Romanian legal entities, manufacturers or importers/distributors authorized by the manufacturer of the respective vehicles.

As of January 1st 2007 for the vehicles homologated in compliance with the frame directives of the European Union (directives which refer to the type approval of the entire vehicle) the national type registration procedure shall be applied.
