As of January 1st 2007 for the vehicles homologated in compliance with the frame directives of the European Union (directives which refer to the type approval of the entire vehicle) the national type registration procedure shall be applied. After obtaining the type national registration, the importers may request an unlimited number of identity cards which they can use until the European approval loses its validity.

The regulations which lay at the basis of such procedure, as well as the addresses of the services which carry out their activity of type national registration are identical with the ones applicable for the type national approvals.

Necessary documents:
- Type national registration official application;
- The European approval certificate (in the filled in form so that the checking of all data which are included in the national registration certificate);
- A standard data sheet, signed, dated and stamped by the applicant;
- A compliance certificate personalized in original or in copy with the note "in compliance with the original"

The stages are similar with the ones of the type national approval with the note that all the stages regarding the presentation if the vehicle to the Type Approval Department for tests and/or compliance checks shall be eliminated.

The cost is fixed, irrespective of the category of the vehicle, RON 2620.10 RON (13.08.2007) and shall be updates according to the rate of inflation, the change of certain wage coefficients, the amendment of the overheads etc.
